Your budget – Decide what your budget is, then stick to it. Remember “It’s not how much you have to spend on your wedding that counts. It’s how well you spend your money”

Negotiate – Make sure you research everything and always get at least two quotes, then haggle. Be prepared however to walk away if you are not getting the deal you want. But remember, be reasonable you cannot expect a business to work for nothing. Would you?

Be flexible – Getting married on a Saturday, New Years Eve, Valentines Day and Bank Holidays or between May and October are the most expensive times to get married. If you opt instead to marry on a Sunday, a weekday or during winter, you could half the cost of your reception. Remember venues and suppliers are more willing to negotiate during these times, as these are there quite periods.

Prioritise – Remember, inviting more people, means more money spent on invitations, meals, table decoration, favours, cake, and drinks. Do you really need or want to invite people who you never see from one year to the next? Don’t forget it’s your day, invite the people who you really want to be there.

Get Crafty – Would you like to put your own personal touch to your wedding and save money at the same time? Why not get your friends and relatives to help you make your wedding stationary, favours, dresses, cake, flowers or table centrepieces?
